What is APCO you might ask? And why does La Kooki care?

Apco Member

APCO is the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation, a not-for-profit that’s committed to developing a circular economy in Australia. La Kooki has been a member since 2020. The crazy thing is at the time of joining I didn’t know much about APCO and figured the best way to wrap my head around it was to become a member. I was Margaret River Wine Association’s Sustainability Engagement Officer at the time and La Kooki was the perfect avenue to get to know how we can be more accountable and responsible for what we package our wine in. I opened a can of worms…. in a good way 🙂

Changes are coming to the Australian Recycling Label (ARL) Program, specifically soft plastics, with users having to update logos by 1 July 2025 or they might hear from the ACCC. You might recognise the ARL logos. Heading down a rabbit hole, La Kooki has embarked on a mission to do the right thing and use the arl logo on our wines. It’s all part of our commitment to sustainability that started with using lightweight glass bottles in 2021. There’s a lot to understand and quite a bit of ‘paperwork’ but it makes us feel good knowing we are responsibly letting you know how to recycle, or not, our wine packaging.
