La Kooki 2021 Rosé Blonde
Pinot noir, from Thompson Estate in the heart of Wilyabrup, was handpicked and whole bunch pressed, six barrels where wild fermented; creamy chardonnay lees was used to top-out barrels, which were then lees stirred every 3-4 weeks until July. A delicious, textural take on rosé, leading with red fruits upfront, and a cleansing long savoury finish. Bottled on 5th August 2021.

This is fantastic. Delicate and textural, yet creamy and plush, too. It has flavour, shape and brilliant acidity, all of which serve to pump up the tyres of the others. This is compelling drinking. Rosé at its best.

It starts in the prettiest tea rose hues, eye-catching stuff. Pristine juicy, crunchy fruit in strawberry, cherry, briar, a just-so touch of tart pomegranate pearls with a quiet whisper of spring blossom. Got the balance right in the acid/fruit/tannin department. Zesty with a touch of texture to close.
